FAQ 0001
How do I get access to the NID and NCVA Members Only
files?
Access to the files stored in Password Protected
Directories (PPDs) is obtained in one of two ways.
- Access to the PPD containing the NCVA Internet Directory
(NID) is granted to individuals who are listed in the
NID, or who are members of the NCVA. A user name and
password for Non-NCVA members will be provided by the
Listmaster, Bill Hickey . (You must be listed in the NID to obtain the Non-NCVA member
password access to the NID.) NCVA Members need to establish an NCVA
Member Account with the Webmaster (see next item).
-
Access to
the Members Only files (stored in a seperate PPD from
the NID) may be granted to members of the NCVA. NCVA
Member PPD Access accounts may be used to access both
the NID PPD and the NCVA Members Only PPD files.
Members may request an account from the Webmaster
.
Send an e-mail with the following information:
- Subject: "Request NCVA Member PPD
Access Account"
- Your full name as it appears on your CRYPTOLOG
mailing label.
- Your desired user name (no spaces, no
HTML coding, and no Hidden Characters
allowed). It must be at least 4 characters
and must not be more than 10 characters in length.
The default is the first 6 letters of your last name
and the first letter of your first name. FRUPAC
members may use their call sign. In case of a
duplicate user name the Webmaster may append a
numeral.
- Your desired password (at least
6-characters in length, no spaces allowed, and must
start with at least one non-numerical
character). It should NOT be a common word.
It should contain both uppercase and lowercase
letters or a mix of letters and numbers. Avoid well
known combinations or case patterns.
- When your account is ready for use the Webmaster
will send you a reply informing you that your account
was activated.
WARNING:
DO NOT send your user name and password for your Internet
Service or E-Mail account! The user name may be the same
as one of your other accounts but, the password for
access to PPD files should be different.
