NRT-0204 Whitelisting To Replace Traditional AntiVirus Technology:

Antivirus technology is gradually dying and being replaced by far more effective IT security technology based on whitelisting. Whitelisting, which started from a simple premise that the only messages that should be delivered directly to a recipient's inbox are from senders the recipient already trusts, also applies to software. "When you get down to it, it is not about malware and hackers, it is about 'software authentication'," according to whitelisting vendor SignaCert. Software authentication is necessary for many reasons, to prevent people from running the wrong versions of software, to prevent them from loading software without permission, to prevent people from running software for which your company has not bought a license, or to prevent them from running it on a machine for which it is not licensed. Software authentication reportedly stops malware as well as helping to manage the corporate software resources.
