NRT-0384 Scammers Take Advantage of Actor's Death to Spread
Malware:
Scammers are using the death of actor Heath Ledger to spread
malware. Within hours of the reports of Ledger's death on 22 January,
researchers discovered malicious URLs that turned up when users keyed in the
search terms "heath" and "ledger." Upon further analysis,
researchers also linked these malicious URLs with those resulting from the
suspected hacking of web servers of a certain Czech hosting provider. Hacked
sites residing in these servers carry a malicious JavaScript code - detected by
Trend Micro as JS_DLOADER.DAT - that, when accessed, follows the same
redirection algorithm as the Heath Ledger links. Reserarchers reportedly have
provided the Czech CERT with this information.
