Saratoga Springs
The Battle That Changed History... Flush with his victory at Fort Ticonderoga, General John Burgoyne was confident he could stop the American rebellion once and for all. Instead, on October 17, 1777, after days of terrible fighting, he surrendered to the Americans at Saratoga - long recognized as the turning point in the American Revolution.
Saratoga is a small patriotic town with a big heart, and is proud to have been chosen to host many military reunions. From those who served on America's legendary men-of-war - including USS YORKTOWN, USS NEW JERSEY and USS SARATOGA - to the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and the Military Order of the Purple Heart - to the United States Submarine Veterans the men and women who have served America are honored in Saratoga and given the warmest welcome as very special guests.
Winner of many awards - including a "Great American Place" and a "Great American Main Street" - downtown Saratoga's Victorian-era streets are fun to explore from enticing boutiques and cozy bookstores to sidewalk cafes and intimate bistros. Explore Saratoga's many attractions such as the New York State Military Museum, or see the battle of Saratoga brought to life at Saratoga National Historical Park. See the latest exhibits at the Saratoga Automobile Museum, try your luck at Saratoga Gaming and Raceway or tee it up at Saratoga National Golf Club. Discover the horses that made Saratoga famous at the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame. Relax with a mineral bath, cruise Lake George or explore America's pastime at the National Baseball Hall of Fame in nearby Cooperstown.
Walt Disney World recently opened the Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, a grand lakeside resort to celebrate the legacy of a gentler era that captures the spirit of Saratoga Springs, NY. They invite guests to "experience the magic that flows throughout the community."
